The Steirischer Herbst art festival asked me to create a multi-channel video player for the documentary of the stage performance "Ich spiele, also bin ich! Ein digitaler Bauernkrieg" by Hito Steyerl and Mark Waschke. This required a player that fit into the existing visual identity and was capable of playing any number of video sources with high performance, similar to video conferencing software such as Zoom.

What only appears to be a simple task at first glance required precise and detailed coordination in terms of high streaming quality for all end devices and, in particular, perfect synchronisation. Since large amounts of video data had to be processed, the decision was made to host the content via Vimeo, which, however, presented the challenge of harmonising the asynchronous response cycles of individual video sources. Vimeo's API, for example, executes play and pause commands with a certain, constantly varying delay, which required dedicated synchronisation of all media sources by means of permanent, close-meshed countermeasures. Ultimately, the Vimeo API, which is not designed for such requirements, was used in such a way that a good result was achieved.
