Content management systems such as WordPress only offer a sufficient interface to integrate all the content required for a project in exceptional cases. They therefore allow you to create your own fields, known as custom fields, with WordPress standing out in this regard as it enables far-reaching solutions for composite field groups and tailor-made designs. There are a number of third-party plugins on the market to fill this gap, but these often only provide interfaces that are too cumbersome for the end user to use, or do not allow extensive control over structure and appearance.

For this purpose, I have created and maintain my own plugin, MP Custom Fields, which not only integrates seamlessly and unobtrusively into WordPress and provides extensive field types and groups, but also conserves server resources. It is aimed at developers who are familiar with WordPress and is available free of charge as open source software.
